Profile Today we're going to BarCamp Rochester. It has nothing to do with "Bars" as in drinking, it's an event primarily for techies and entrepreneurs... (the long version: it's a geek-pun off of the commonly used variable "FooBar" when teaching programming and the fact that a similar type of event was called FooCamp).
It's an "un"conference, and I've yet to really figure out what that means (I think you have to experience one in person), but it seems somehow related to a wiki system for conferences... I mean un-conferences? One thing I know for sure is that EVERYONE presents on something.
Geoff and I are going to be presenting on viral growth, namely from The Tipping Point. I've read the book twice now and I think it has a good amount of advice for creating viral growth explained through a pretty constant stream of anecdotes.
If you're in Rochester, NY come by and check it out!

We were at the RIT Career Fair today (I guess technically yesterday... long day), and it was a blast!
I expected there to be some talent, and I was hoping for a decent turnout. It went far better than we could have hoped: we were busy nearly the entire time and got a pretty massive stack of resumes (looks to be about 2.5 inches tall). What's even more awesomer-er-est is that the talent pool was even better than we expected. There were so many talented people and a small number of slots to fill on the interview schedule for the next day, so we actually broke RIT's rules a little bit and scheduled interviews right through lunch!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by. Even if we didn't invite you back for an interview, we're holding on to everyone's resume for future use. Regardless of who you are, keep your head up... the entire applicant pool was strong and I have no doubt that everyone who stopped by our booth is capable of finding a position somewhere soon.
Job searches are rough (been there), and there is a lot of uncertainty - especially since companies don't have the resources to write a "no thanks" letter to the several hundred people they can't follow up with. Hang in there though. We have a less than 5% unemployment rate (that is INSANELY low), so the jobs are out there, it's just a confusing dance as the right people align with the right positions.

| Embrace this moment, remember We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion That whole song (parabol/parabola) is like an insanely good montage song. The beginning is all quiet and then it explodes. A 9 minute montage but a montage none the less. Thanks for remembering my bday. |

| Now we both liked Good Will Hunting, I found a movie very similar. It's called Step Up. It's just that instead of doing high level math they're break dancing. |
